How to Send HD Quality Images on WhatsApp Chats: Easy Steps to Follow

WhatsApp, a popular instant messaging program, allows friends and acquaintances to share diverse material such as images, videos, voice notes, contacts, location, and documents. Despite its popularity, Meta's app has been known to compress images, prompting many users to seek alternative methods of transmitting high-quality photos.

WhatsApp has released a solution to solve this risk. Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently disclosed via a Facebook post that WhatsApp users can now share high-definition (HD) photographs within their chats.

The Meta leader mentioned in his post that the feature is now available to all users. To ensure that you attach an HD image, click on the HD icon displayed in a conversation thread.

The feature was originally tested on the beta channel in June of this year. It should also be remembered that HD photographs require more data and storage than non-HD images.

To send high-definition (HD) images in WhatsApp chats, follow these steps:

  • Open WhatsApp: Launch the WhatsApp application on your device.
  • Select a Chat: Choose the chat with the person or group to whom you want to send the HD image.
  • Click on the Attachment Icon: Within the chat, locate the attachment icon. This is usually represented by a paperclip or a plus sign, and it's typically located beside the chat box where you type your messages.
  • Choose the Image: Select the option to attach an image. This will open your device's gallery or photo library.
  • Select the HD Icon: When you're presented with your image gallery, look for the HD icon. This icon indicates that you can send the image in high definition. It might resemble a small HD label or an icon that signifies high quality.
  • Pick the HD Image: Tap on the image you wish to send in HD. After selecting the image, you might be prompted to confirm sending it in high definition due to the larger file size.
  • Send the HD Image: Once you've confirmed sending the HD image, it will be attached to the chat. You can also add a caption or message if desired.
  • Send the Message: After adding any accompanying message, click the send button to dispatch the HD image in the chat.
By default, all photographs on WhatsApp are sent at normal quality. To reduce file size, the software compresses the image. However, if you want an HD image, you must manually tap on the HD symbol. The HD icon will be presented at the bottom left of the image for the receiver.
